Hi. I’m Paul Carter.
I started ClickBasics in January 2001 when I was Web Manager for the Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA. A handful of workshop leaders asked me to help them develop their own websites. So I built a simple, do-it-yourself system called “ClickBasics Lite.”
I soon realized that, while launching a terrific looking website is important, it takes much more than that to make the internet work for visitors and for the business bottom line.
The internet is a two-way medium. When visitors click through to information on the web, their clicks leave a stream of information about how they found us and how they responded. This opens a whole new world of possibilities and requires a whole new way to thinking to manage a website and achieve its full potential.
The two-way nature of the web has now come into its own with the shift from passive consumers, to consumers that participate actively in the purchasing process. This active participation is one reason for the rapid adoption rate of social media. The challenge is to understand the new rules of marketing in this environment.
Consider this: during the 10 years that I managed Kripalu’s internet presence, online sales grew by over 800%. Today, my mission and my passion is to take the knowledge, experience, and inspiration from that work, adapt it for today’s web and make it available for you as I have for others.
